WHOS New Beginnings

An exciting opportunity exists to become part of a small dynamic team within a larger organisation. As part of We Help Ourselves, WHOS New Beginnings is an AOD residential service for women, located within the beautiful grounds of Broughton Hall Lilyfield. We require a motivated and enthusiastic woman to fill this fulltime AOD Community Services Worker position.

Being a woman is a genuine occupational qualification under section 31 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).

Essential Criteria

  • Minimum Certificate IV in AOD/Community Services or related  discipline. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience working with AOD clients,  preferably in a residential setting. 
  • Passionate about working with women and an understanding of their  related issues. 
  • Experience in the implementation of case management for AOD clients. 
  • Demonstrated therapeutic group work skills. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of harm minimisation. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and collaboratively as part  of a team. 
  • Competent computer skills especially with MS Word and Excel. Have a current (or willing to obtain) First Aid Certificate, Criminal  Record Check 
  • Covid-19 Vaccination Certificate. 
  • Current Drivers Licence. 

Desirable Criteria

  • Knowledge and understanding of the Therapeutic Community model and/or residential AOD services. 
  • Experience liaising with internal/external stakeholders such as medical  detox unit, referral agencies and nurses.

Other Information

Hours & Remuneration: 

  • This is a fulltime role, 38 hours per week.  
  • Salary negotiated based on qualifications and experience equivalent to  the SCHADSI Award. 
  • Generous salary packaging applies.
