Did you know that it costs approximately $750,000 annually to keep an individual in prison? For young people, this cost is $1 million. Consider this: with a fraction of these funds, the government could equip NCOSS members with the necessary resources to diminish the necessity for criminal intervention and incarceration. We acknowledge the importance of both enforcement and prevention measures, it appears that the government may have skewed the balance in both rhetoric and practicality.

Serious gambling harm is negatively impacting those who can least afford it. NCOSS stands with Wesley Mission in their push for urgent reform to stop the devastating losses of gambling harm in NSW.

Today on National Sorry Day, NCOSS reflect on the hurt and pain of the Stolen Generation, who were forcibly taken from their families and communities. We honour their continuing strength and survival. NCOSS believes that all children deserve to grow up safe and cared for in family, community and culture.
