Together we are working for a NSW free from poverty and inequality.
About us
The NSW Council of Social Service (NCOSS) works with and for people experiencing poverty and disadvantage in NSW to make positive change in our communities. The head office is on Gadigal Country. As the peak body for health and community services in NSW for over 80 years we support the sector to deliver crucial services that make a difference. We work directly with communities to identify the challenges they face and solutions that will allow them to overcome those challenges. Through collaboration with communities, services and across government, the private sector and other civil society organisations we work to see these solutions become a reality. NCOSS coordinates a number of policy advice groups, alliances and forums to facilitate policy development and advocacy on key issues for people experiencing poverty and disadvantage, campaigns with communities on key issues for people experiencing poverty and disadvantage and runs annual regional roadshows visiting communities across NSW to understand what is happening on the ground and inform our policy and advocacy work.

📢 Leaders of the Councils of Social Service across the country united today to call on all candidates in this election to commit to #RaisetheRate. Keeping people in poverty is a policy choice. The next Federal Government must lift JobSeeker, Youth Allowance, Parenting Payment, and related supports to at least the pension rate ($82 a day) to help people to cover the basics. ✒️ Sign the joint statement and join us in calling on the next government to substantially raise the rate of payments so that people do not need to go without food, healthcare and a safe place to call home: https://lnkd.in/g2ym3H6T Northern Territory Council of Social Service (NTCOSS) QCOSS Tasmanian Council of Social Service ACT Council Of Social Service (ACTCOSS) Western Australian Council of Social Service (WACOSS) SACOSS (South Australian Council of Social Service) VCOSS NSW Council of Social Service (NCOSS) Aimee McVeigh Sally Sievers Louise Giolitto Devin Bowles Juanita Pope Cara Varian Ross Womersley Adrienne Picone GAICD
